Our History

Founded in 1975 by Mr. Gilles Lafleur, himself suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, Le Bon Pilote is a non-profit organization which provides a personal attendant service to people with a visual impairment or loss of autonomy. These people can therefore have access to specialized support from our team of attendants, that is both human and professional.

Le Bon Pilote is built on a simple philosophy, but of crucial importance: treating others the way you would like to be treated yourself.

To support improved living conditions for people with a visual impairment or loss of mobility.

To offer a personal attendant service that is both professional and safe to all of our members.

To promote a home support for all of our users that allows them to maintain their quality of life.

To develop resources, infrastructures and services adapted to the needs of our members.

Le Bon Pilote wants to expand its range of services suited to the reality and needs of people with a visual impairment or loss of autonomy, including by being more present in their daily life. We also want to ensure that more people can benefit from our support even the most disadvantaged people.

Our Achievements

Our attendants have all received special training on how to meet the specific needs of our members.
Le Bon Pilote has adapted to the new technologies: a new website, a Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn presence, as well as Pinterest.
Since 2011, the organization has helped triple the number of its members and accompaniments offered.
According to a member survey, 95% were satisfied with the quality of our services.
